Greetings

Three out of four Americans think their life is out of balance,
and one out of the three is looking to do something about it.

The current research for baby-boomers and their children suggest
that by 2025 half of all Americans will be actively pursuing a way
to live greener, healthier more satisfying lives. Thus the emergence
of the ‘wellness lifestyle’ that comprises segments of health,
beauty, food, fitness, medicine, spirituality and of course spa
services. This market has been building for the last 20 to 30 years,
and certain things that were once fringe are now mainstream

Little Steps

If life is a journey -  the steps we take determine the journey.  Seems rather simple and straightforward, right?  I wonder, though, how seriously and consciously do we choose each and every step of the journey?

Consider that the smallest step to the left or the right, out of "line" from our desired target, can and usually has far-reaching consequences.  These side steps result in major changes in our destination. We all know that by moving the steering wheel in a car just a little will soon take us off the road - unless we adjust quickly and appropriately.

Choices set the direction of our steps - and thus the destination. What seems like a very small start will set into motion something that may or may not be easily adjusted. Let's look at some examples that face us today:

Spring Allergy Relief

Why do some people's immune systems overreact to common daily things like pollens, dust, animal dander, and molds while others walk around oblivious to these microscopic irritants?  It has something to do with our environment and our diet.  Therefore we can do something to address the underlying causes.

When all of the stressors, irritants, toxins, infections, and allergens your body has encountered overwhelm your immune response, your body goes into defense and becomes hyperviglant and will overreact!

We Love Hearing From You!

We love it when our practice members express some of their growth within our office. For those of you that are curious about the benefits of Network Care, here are some recent testimonials:

___________________________________________

"I have always been overtly honest with anyone entering my life. So when I am asked how I feel since my first (entrainment) , the resulting answer is grateful. The last two years of my life have been very traumaticand Sea Change and Deborah Musso have been eye opening. I have reconnected to my body and began to listen to what it was so desperately trying to tell me. I had ignored it for so long and am finally learning that I must be good to it. When my body speaks, I listen. Through NSA, diet, exercise, and a great sense of mental clarity. I am feeling free and comfortable, light and happy, and peaceful. Thanks Debby for your love and support."

Take a Spring Break!

"A good rest is half the work."

        -- Yugoslav Proverb

Strong work ethic? You can still justify taking a break. In fact, we NEED to take breaks -- regularly and frequently. Why? WE WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY WHEN WE DON'T WORK SO MUCH.

Rest periods and vacations break our work routines. They help SHIFT OUR THINKING from its habitual, stuck patterns. They create the SPACE FOR ENERGY AND CREATIVITY to flow. They give us TIME FOR REFLECTION, so we can step back and look at what's happening in our lives with greater detachment. We become more sensitive and aware.

And finally, we are stronger when we BALANCE DOING with BEING. All work and no play throws our life out of balance and endangers our health. Our bodies and minds need sufficient rest for recuperation. This is critically important with the level of stress in our lives these days.

"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it."

-- Sidney J. Harris

"I still need more healthy rest in order to work at my best. My health is the main capital I have and I want to administer it intelligently."

-- Ernest Hemingway

5 Simple Steps to a Happier, Healthier You

by Dr. Amy McLaughlin

Benjamin Franklin once said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."

Take a look at some of the things that you do in your life. Are you doing the same things over and over again, expecting that it will eventually work? Maybe it is the 5 pounds you want to lose, or the dissatisfaction you are feeling with your job, or the amount of money in the bank. And it seems that no matter what you do you don't feel like things are changing?

My philosophy is keep it simple and focus on what is working. Start small and as you start feeling better then you can add on more things to creating habits that will actually give you the outcomes you desire and expect.

Sweeter Soda

Keep the fizz, but lose the wasteful packaging and artificial chemicals by making a switch to natural and organic sodas. Organic sodas are easier to find than ever, and according to the research company Research and Markets, the organic beverage market has reached $1.3 billion in the U.S.

Not only do organic sodas have no chemical additives or sweeteners, but some companies like Santa Cruz Organic sodas also keep environmental concerns as top priority by making their sodas with 100 percent renewable energy. Their handy six-packs come in traditional flavors like Ginger Ale and Root Beer as well as refreshing Orange Mango and Raspberry Lemonade.

Other top natural sodas like Izze, Steaz, and White Rock are also made in glass bottles, which are widely accepted at recycling centers and are generally cheaper and easier to recycle than plastic bottles. Also, glass bottles can be recycled repeatedly, and are often manufactured in a less harmful way than plastic.

For those who need a little extra power to keep up with today's fast-paced world, try switching from Red Bull to an organic alternative. For an all-natural pick-me-up, try Steaz Energy-a new organic and fair-trade energy drink that can fuel your busy life with 80 mg of caffeine. Guaranteed to give you a buzz, these organic drinks are made with Fair Trade Certified ceylon green tea and without the high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, colors, and flavors in most energy drinks.

Eating Chocolate may be More Important to your Health than Penicillin

Epicatechin, a compound found in unrefined cocoa, could have health benefits that rival penicillin and anesthesia in terms of importance to public health.

Norman Hollenberg, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, has spent years studying the effects of routine cocoa drinking on the Kuna people of Panama. The Kuna, who drink up to 40 cups of cocoa a week, have a less than 10 percent risk of stroke, heart failure, cancer and diabetes.

Hollenberg believes that epicatechin should be considered a vitamin, and other nutrition experts believe that epicatechin is so important that it could even warrant a rethinking of how vitamins are defined. Epicatechin is removed from commercial cocoas because it tends to have a bitter taste. It is also found in teas, wine, chocolate and some fruits and vegetables.
