Greetings
Three out of four Americans think their life is out of balance,
and one out of the three is looking to do something about it.
The current research for baby-boomers and their children suggest
that by 2025 half of all Americans will be actively pursuing a way
to live greener, healthier more satisfying lives. Thus the emergence
of the ‘wellness lifestyle’ that comprises segments of health,

Introducing the Bates Method of Vision Correction
 |
Good vision IS effortless. When we're tired, sick, or overworked we don't see as well as when we're fresh and relaxed. Correcting vision by contact lenses and glasses allows us to see clearly again, but later the clarity diminishes and we need a stronger prescription. However, there is a way to actually improve the vision using a non-surgical method of visual relaxation.
William Bates, an American Ophthalmologist at the turn of the century, found that eyes under strain do not see well. There are six muscles around each eye and three more on the inside. These muscles need to be relaxed, flexible and energized in order to maintain clear accurate focus.

Wellness Revolution: A Call for Personal Empowerment
 |
Lets get to the basics. What is wellness? Everyone has an idea of what wellness is, but the word is tossed around so much that the meaning gets convoluted. So for the sake of clarity let me give you a definition.
Wellness is an optimal state of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being, not only an absence of disease.
What does that mean? It means that you can have a disease, like cancer, diabetes etc and still have wellness. It also means that if you have no disease and are “healthy” you may not have wellness, you may not have a sense of well-being.
Understand that it is a combination of all four of these aspects that lead to wellness. Lets go over them one by one . . .

Try it on Your Own: Visual Relaxation
 |
|
This lesson is an introduction to the art of palming, as developed over a hundred years ago by Dr. Bates: To palm is to cover your closed eyes with your hands in such a way that there is no pressure on your eyeballs. The palms of your hands are slightly cupped over each eye (left over left and right over right), and usually the fingers are partly interlaced on your forehead. There should be no light, or as little as possible, allowed to enter the eye. Once you are palming, open your eyes and look around to see if you can adjust your hands in such a way as to exclude as much light as possible. Notice how your breath rises and falls. Count each breath cycle until you get to fifteen or so, and then stop.
". . . most people, though by no means all, find it easiest to relax with their eyes shut. This usually lessens the strain to see, and in such cases is followed by a temporary or more lasting improvement in vision. . . "

Less Stress... More Growth
With each new year comes a plethora of new commitments and responsibilities, and of course, new sources of stress. It can be challenging to sustain your momentum and make progress on any of your goals when your focus is constantly being diverted by life and its concerns. How are you doing with your new years resolutions?
